Area to be Mowed
Before mowing, analyze the area to determine the best mowing procedures. Consider the height of the grass, terrain type, as well as the presence of ditches, trees, or other large items that could potentially cause a crash. To prevent any accidents, clear the area of any large items which could cause
a crash before mowing in a new area. Set the mower cut height higher than
desired the first time over so the mower will clear unseen obstructions and
will not cause scalping if the ground is pitted.
Mowing Path Generation
Tweak Path Angle
Tweak the angle on the Atlas path generator to match the direction of your
terrain.
Avoid Slope Regions
Avoid creating start, stop, or turning regions on the slope. Instead, do
this on the most level ground possible, and consider where it might be safe
to do so before sending the robot on a mowing mission.

Cutting Height
- Cut grass more often rather than too short.
- Short grass is subject to more rapid deterioration in hot weather and invites weed growth in growing weather.
- Check local recommendations for the most suitable grass height in your area.
- Extremely tall grass should be mowed twice:
- Raise the mower and cut only half the desired height, up to a maximum of 6 inches.
- Then mow a second time to the desired height.
